For the next three years he would compile his material for a recording, that never happened. Instead he rushed a single take recording of [aesthetics] in the final weeks of summer 2008.

[aesthetics] is a rough recording, done in an improvised manor such that rhythm guitar parts were recorded first, almost completely improvised, followed by drums recorded extremely poorly in both quality and ability. Multiple tracks of samples from the movies When Nietzsche Wept (2006) and Elegy (2008) were layed along with keyboards and various noises. There is also a sample from a piece written by Patrick Gillen read from Windows Narrator, because he left his microphone at home when he went to college (SUNY Geneseo). Eventually bass was added in January 2009, thus finalizing the first official recording of Six Point Cloud People.

[aesthetics]

1. culture (2:36)

2. art (17:44)

3.nature (3:46)

Download: Six Point Cloud People - [aesthetics] (55.9 MB)

With the growing pressures of college Patrick Gillen, I like talking in the third person er Patrick Gillen likes talking in the third person, did not write or record until lake April 2009. This time he went for a less post-rock feel in his recordings. In fact there is no real feel to the music, if it can be called that. This 13 minute and 5 second long demo consists of 17 tracks, most of which are nonsense. It is titled This Will Be Misunderstood.

The first seven tracks on the album are the ticking of a clock, first track is one second, second is two, etc. Track 8 is a ridiculous banjo track consisting of nonsense chords and an obnoxious filter backing it. Track 9 is another 8 seconds of ticking. Tracks 10-13 are the This Will Be Misunderstood Parts A-D, named as such because frankly there is no meaning in any of the tracks, various noises and other surprises awake the listener. Track 14 is really the only track worth listening to. Two out of tune mandolins L(100) R(100) panning, backed by an oscillating fan. Track 15 is another 9 seconds of ticking. Track 16 is a ukulele track that is completely unguided. And the final track is, yes you guessed it 10 seconds of ticking.

This Will Be Misunderstood

1. 1 (0:01)

2. 2 (0:02)

3. 3 (0:03)

4. 4 (0:04)

5. 5 (0:05)

6. 6 (0:06)

7. 7 (0:07)

8. They had been playing the songs Patrick has written for approximately 2 years at this point and they decided it was time that they wrote songs together. They have not released any recordings they have together yet but a project has been in the works. It is going to be titled "Light Left Behind", a name of a band Patrick was once in, well less of a band and more like a band that recorded two songs after playing together for about 2 hours and never continued, whatever you call it (www.myspace.com/lightleftbehind). The name Light Left Behind had been in use before he made the myspace for the project and put up the two songs. He devised a concept album in the past named light left behind and decided to rework to make a post-rock version it. This will be coming soon hopefully with a bass player.
